kick of meeting of the project URBAN GARDENING – The Urban Gardening Role in Improving of Adults’ Skills and Community Growth

From 27th – 29th November 2017, the kick of meeting of the project  URBAN GARDENING – The Urban Gardening Role in Improving of Adults’ Skills and Community Growth with Project number: 2017-1-PL01-KA204-038330 took place in Krakow, Poland hosted by Coordinator KCZIA – Kraków /POLAND  and PARTNERS: HELLAS FOR US – Kozani / GREECE, ACD la Hoya – La Hoya / SPAIN, Initiatives for Civil Society – Ruse / BULGARIA, EPLEFPA – Toulouse / FRANCE, PRISM – Enna / ITALY, Youth Eurasia – Istanbul / TURKEY

The project is Erasmus+ Programme, Key Action 2: Strategic Partnerships – Development of Innovation Adult Education “URBAN GARDENING – The Urban Gardening Role in Improving of Adults’ Skills and Community Growth” the project will encourage to active participation and education the local community members, through setting up and maintaining the urban gardens. The project aims to elaborate an innovative educational method to teach soft skills by the work in the garden, e.g. interpersonal communication, team work, management, planning. We believe that urban gardens are places where social cohesion and learning could be strengthened.

The objective of the project are:

1.To organize the desk research of the good practices of urban gardening and its use to develop soft skills, in EU and other countries.

  1. To prepare the training method and materials for trainers.
  2. To organize the training for trainers from partner institutions in order to test the developed training method.
  3. To pilot the developed method of education through the gardening in the partner countries.
  4. To elaborate the Toolkit „Urban gardens as spaces of adults education” – Intellectual Output

The project’s main product – Toolkit – phases

  1. Collecting good practices and other resources.
  2. Preparing the training method and materials for trainer: Guide for trainers.
  3. Organizing the training for trainers from partner institutions (Short term joint staff training event).
  4. Piloting the developed method of education through the gardening in the partner countries.
  5. On the basis of the experiences from the pilot phase, preparing the final version of the Toolkit.
  6. Dissemination Events to promote the Toolkit in each partner country.

During the days of the kick off meeting, we discussed the administrative part of the project (monitoring, dissemination and evaluation activities, and financial aspects), upcoming deadlines and activities, divided responsibilities and clarified some key points. The meeting also allowed us to get to know each other even better and form project management team that would work towards successful implementation of the project.
